I’m Sophie, I’ve been a qualified midwife working in the NHS for over 7 years. I have experience of working on a high-risk labour ward, caring for an antenatal caseload, providing antenatal education and trauma informed care. For the last 5 years I have specialised in caring for women who have experienced loss or are journeying through another pregnancy after this. Within my role I have experience of creating birth preferences and plans for women with previous birth trauma and pregnancy loss.
I have a passion for empowering positive births. I also want to ensure women and birthing people have relevant information and education to allow them to make fully informed decisions around their care and understand why they are making those decisions.
I have a wealth of experience in providing trauma informed care, which includes but is not limited to birth planning and writing preferences, optimising birth education and support evidence based care.
In my birth preference writing I help women to feel validated and listened to which helps to create a positive mindset and self-confidence going forwards towards another birth.
A lot of the techniques used during hypnobirthing I have been using with women in my caseload to help control anxiety and stress throughout their pregnancy with positive results. The techniques used help to empower women through grounding to stay in control during moments of worry, stress or pain.
My sessions are a safe space to explore options available to them based on the latest evidence available to help families make the right choices for them.
My sessions are supportive and non-judgemental to help families feel confident and empowered in their birth journey.
